Learning how to be a Technology Instructional Leader was an integral part of what I learned through this course. The experience I gained working with my fellow teachers and coach them on new instructional technology that can benefit this course has helped me realize that I am capable of not only helping teachers but leading them toward strong technology centered lessons. Specifically while working on my coaching journal and helping my fellow teacher, I learned to first evaluate what the situation is and become a good listener. Then using the principals of partnership, I was able to work with the teacher and together we were able to achieve his goals. It was a truly rewarding experience and one that I am looking forward to having again as I help other teachers.
Using the GSAPS and teacher surveys I was able to find out our school’s needs. Knowing how I can help Chestatee improve allowed me to create a professional learning web quest to help my fellow teachers learn how to use Canvas. Having never presented a professional learning, I was worried that this would be difficult. But using A.D.D.I.E and Gursky principles I know that the teachers will be provided a great learning tool that they can use to improve their current classroom instruction. Using these principles as well as the GSAPS I feel that I am fully prepared to teach my colleagues and know that they will be able to improve their lessons.
Overall I know that through this course I have truly enhanced my skills as a teacher, but specifically my skills to help my fellow teachers. I can feel confident now that when I get into the role to continue my skills as a teacher leader, which I have all of the tools to review the current schools and teachers technology situation and create and individual and school plan to help propel their current technology education. As a teacher I am limited as I can only impact the students I am responsible for. However I am excited as I move forward because with my new skills I am now able to impact all the students in my school as I help improve teacher’s ability to use technology in their classroom.
