6.2 Reflection: Candidates regularly evaluate and reflect on their professional practice and dispositions to improve and strengthen their ability to effectively model and facilitate technology-enhanced learning experiences. (PSC 6.2/ISTE 6c)
For this artifact I was able to show the multiple blog posts I have created for the many courses and concepts I have gone over through my time at Kennesaw State University. There were multiple reflections on the courses that I have taken and the concepts I have learned. There were also reflections about how I currently use various ideas in my class and the problems that might also be associated. Using these reflections I was also able to talk with other students and see how they reacted to the same concepts.
Through these blogs I have been able to regularly evaluate and reflect on my professional practice and dispositions. Specifically seeing new concepts helps me reflect on my current methods of teaching and evaluate how well it is achieving the end results. Then I can evaluate how these new ideas will affect my professional practice which will then in turn effect my disposition. Such as I responded to a blog about how grading is being handled today and after reading the responses of people and the writing itself I changed my disposition about how I plan on handling grading in the future. The use of the blog has allowed me to reflect on many parts of my professional practice and truly evaluate on how well I am performing.
From this artifact I have learned multiple different concepts about technology and how to reflect about how these concepts affect me. It also allowed me to learn from so many other people as they respond to these ideas and provide an education dialogue addressing how these concepts have affected their classroom. In order to improve this idea I would incorporate a blog for my current school amongst all of the teachers here. This would allow teachers with the same students and educational situations to meet online and discuss new concepts together that we have learned. I believe this would be invaluable as we could share resources from everywhere and reflect and evaluate together how we can use them.
By creating this artifact I was able to improve upon my student learning as I was able to understand how these new concepts that I learned worked with so many other teachers. Then using these new strategies I learned from the blog I can now use them in my classroom. Also by having teachers work on these blogs it will allow them to also gain the same knowledge and concepts and enhance their classroom, while also improving everyone else’s concepts by adding their own insight. Through the flow of knowledge the educational strategies in the school will improve and allow for my student led rigorous assignments assisting the whole schools improvement.
