6.1 Continuous Learning: Candidates demonstrate continual growth in knowledge and skills of current and emerging technologies and apply them to improve personal productivity and professional practice. (PSC 6.1/ISTE 6a, 6b)
Creating my Annotated Bibliography I was able to continue to grow my own knowledge. I found bountiful information regarding teaching and technology and the best ways to use the resources. Using this knowledge I was able to have factual evidence to support the need for my Capstone Project “Technology Tuesday” a technology education workshop. Also to help build upon my technology education I was able to attend GaETC and garner multiple resources that I could share with my faculty and use in my classroom. By attending this I was able to add these resources to “Tech Tuesday” and utilize the tools to further support the evidence I learned through the annotated bibliography.
By researching the information for the annotated bibliography and attending GaETC I was able to continually grow my knowledge and skills of current and emerging technologies and trends. By attending GaETC I was given multiple resources that I was then able to use in my classroom showing how I was able to apply my knowledge and skills to improve my personal productivity and professional practices. Also through my research I was able to understand the rationale and benefits behind use of technology in my classroom and share this understanding to my fellow teachers allowing me to apply this knowledge to my fellow teachers to assist with their personal productivity and professional practice.
By creating this artifact I was able to lean the valuable technology education trends in American education today and how the use of technology has enhanced their curriculum. I was also able to gain valuable lessons about new technology that I could use in my classroom and share with fellow teachers at my school. The biggest change I would have with this artifact would be to see how schools with similar population or schools in my area use their technology. I would also like to visit schools who already embrace technology in their school. With the GaETC, I would like to attend more of the workshops and try to attend the ones which are more hands on.
The artifact has a direct impact on student learning as the tools I learned at GaETC and the concepts I garnered through my annotated bibliography has allowed me to create a technology rich environment that challenges student learning. By creating rigor in my classroom and I would then be able to increase my scores and both creating rigor and enhancing my scores are both parts on my school improvement plan. After using these tools and becoming an expert at the topic I would be able to share these ideas with my fellow teachers and enhance their curriculum as well.
