5.3 Program Evaluation: Candidates design and implement program evaluations to determine the overall effectiveness of professional learning on deepening teacher content knowledge, improving teacher pedagogical skills and/or increasing student learning. (PSC 5.3/ISTE 4c)
I created the Action Evaluation Plan which uses the SWOT analysis plan to evaluate the current technology uses of the school through professional learning and teaching. Based on the SWOT analysis I created an Action Evaluation Plan that incorporated using technology to infuse rigorous student led instruction as well as eventually bringing in a one to one technology base for the school. I was also able to use the GAPSS Review / Current Reality assignment that also reviewed the current technology uses and went through multiple categories in the school in reference to professional learning and ways to improve the overall effectiveness in training teachers in technology use.
Through this artifact I was able to design and implement a program evaluation to determine if the professional learning deepens teacher content knowledge. I did this by looking through the current professional learning and technology uses in the school today and realized that too many times it is focused on research and made the adjustments through my action plan to allow the student to become the director of their own concept learning. Through both the GAPSS Review and Action and Evaluation plan I was able to improve teacher pedagogical skills and how to use technology appropriately and to increase the rigor and safety in the classroom. Finally through both reviews I was able to increase student learning through technology by allowing teachers to use technology to relate to the learning styles of students today.
By completing the Action and Evaluation Plan I was able to learn how to use a SWOT evaluation plan to take a comprehensive view of the schools technology uses. Through this I learned how to use the information garnered from the SWOT plan to create an Action Evaluation Plan. I also learned how to create a GAPSS review to breakdown the professional learning plan on the school and how to increase the effectiveness of our schools professional learning. In order to improve both the Action and Evaluation Plan as well as the GAPSS review I would incorporate both the administration and teachers in the school review as well as the plan to help promote the technology use in the classroom and professional learning.
Both of these artifacts have a direct impact on faculty development because they focus on ways to create professional learning that can infuse student directed technology use. Which has an overarching impact on student learning as they can start taking control of their learning and creating a better understanding of the classroom topics. By reviewing the school needs both the Action Plan and GAPSS review allow the school a chance to find areas they are weak in and use the Action Plan to fix these deficiencies. The impact of both the GAPSS and Action Plan can be evident with the actual implementation of the Action Plan and the increase of technology professional learning as well as the Technology lessons in the classroom.
