The Data Inventory is a comprehensive look at all of the resources collected in your school to assist with your UDP process in studying data. I created the Data Inventory of Chestatee High School during ITEC 7305, in which I researched and put together a comprehensive list of all the data collected at my school. On this form you are able to then analyze the resources and how you utilize them at the school and the most productive ways to use them as you move forward. It also allows you to see how often you are collecting data and using it to assist in your instruction.
By using the Data Inventory I was able to model how our school facilitates all of our diagnostic, formative and summative assessments. At my school many teachers use diagnostic tests to provide insight into student’s prior knowledge of the content as well as specific skills needed for their courses. These diagnostic tests are uses with the pre PPAS as well as USA Test Prep to provide specific content knowledge students have going into the course. Many teachers also facilitate a diagnostic survey to show technology literacy of their students. Teachers also carry out many formative assessments to garner students understanding of unit specific content such as unit tests and midterms to evaluate and measure student learning. Finally teachers use summative assessments, final exams, post PPAS, and EOC’s to evaluate how well students obtained the knowledge required in the course.
Through this artifact I was able to learn about all of the data resources my school uses to evaluate itself every year. I was able to learn when these evaluations are completed and when we as a school will receive the results of these evaluations. Finally I was able to learn the multiple ways in which teachers evaluate themselves and assist in guaranteeing they have fully explained the concept. To improve the process of collecting this information for my data inventory I would have sent out a google doc for my administration and teachers to share their data with. I would have also reviewed more of the county resources used to collect information about schools.
This artifact has a direct impact on student learning as it provides valuable data about their progress and ways in which teachers can better enhance their learning. Which in turn directly impacts faculty development because the data collected helps provide resources and professional learning to one impact the areas missing in student learning as well as areas found in climate surveys and teacher observations. Finally all of this ties into the School Improvement Plan as it focuses on collecting this data as well as creating professional learning that creates rigorous learning impacting students’ scores and outcomes on EOC testing. The impact of the Data Inventory would be evident through how well teachers can find and understand the data and then use the data to assist their classroom instruction to meet the needs found in the data.
